A few weeks ago, Samsung pulled the veil off the Galaxy A8, the slimmest Android smartphone it has every produced up until now. The handset was announced globally and came bundling pretty decent mid-ranger specs.

And now, it appears that good old Sammy will be offering yet another version of the Galaxy A8, this time for the Indian market. The Galaxy A8 comes with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and 386ppi.

The original version was announced in Asia with a Snapdragon 615 processor under the hood, but the Indian version has one of Samsung’s own silicon pieces inside, the Exynos 5430.

The platform features a big.LITTLE octa-core CPU featuring 4 cores of 1.8GHz Cortex-A15 and 4 cores of 1.3GHz Cortex-A7. Graphics on board are being handled by a Mali-T628 MP6 GPU with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

The thinnest phone in the Samsung portfolio features a 16MP rear-facing camera with f/1.9 aperture, which, in theory, should allow users to snap quality photographs in less than decent lightning conditions.

The 5MP shooter up in front is to be used for selfies and video chats thanks to its 120-degree wide-angle lens. Under the hood lies a 3,050 mAh power juicer (reportedly good for 300 hours of standby time) and Android 5.1 comes pre-installed on the device.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 is only 5.9 mm thin and weighs 151 g (with battery included). It basically features the same design as the Galaxy S6, but the back side is made of aluminum instead of glass coating.

The smartphone comes with a fingerprint scanner and multiple connectivity options, including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with GLONASS and Beidou support, along with NFC (Near Field Communication).

The Samsung Galaxy A8 will be available in black, white and gold colors and can be purchased by Indian customers for approximately $507 / €463. The handset will be offered through brick-and-mortar locations but also via online shops. And in case you’re an Airtel customer, you’ll be offered a double data offer for 6 months when you purchase the Galaxy A8.
