Samsung released the Galaxy A8 (2016) last year in South Korea and it seems that the company is now making the phone available in other countries as well. The Galaxy A8 (2016) can now be purchased in UAE and Taiwan.

Since it’s available in UAE, Samsung might also put it up for sale in other Gulf states. The company first made the phone exclusive to South Korean carrier SK Telecom, but didn’t mention any other countries that would get it last year.

In October last year, the Galaxy A8 (2016) was spotted on India’s import and export tracking website Zauba, which means that it could arrive in the country too. However, that is quite unclear at this point. The phone carries a price tag of about $490 in UAE, and a similar price should be posted in Taiwan as well.

5.7-inch smartphone with a 16MP rear camera

The Galaxy A8 (2016) has some satisfactory mid-range specs, including a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display and Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 7420 processor. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, as well as a 16MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and 8MP in the front for selfies and video calls.

The phone draws power from a 3,500mAh battery and has a fingerprint scanner. It comes with support for Samsung Pay and runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, including Samsung’s Always On Display feature which allows users to check the time and date, while keeping an eye on missed calls and message alerts.

The nice thing about this feature is the ability to work when the phone is not in use or just on standby. The smartphone should receive an update to Android 7.0 Nougat in the future, but Samsung must update its flagships first. The Galaxy A8 (2016) comes in three color variants, including blue, gold and silver.
