Samsung started the New Year with the launch of new iterations in the Galaxy A series. The Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) were expected to be announced late last year, but Samsung had a change of heart.

Samsung has just confirmed that it won’t be bringing the Galaxy A (2017) series in the US, but the phones will be made available in other countries, according to a report by PA. In fact, the Galaxy A3 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017) are already up for pre-order in the UK and they will be made available in Russia early this month.

Samsung won’t make the Galaxy A7 (2017) available in Europe, but the other two phones have prices starting at £299 (€350 / $365) for the Galaxy A3 (2017) and £399 (€470 / $490) for the Galaxy A5 (2017).

The fact that the phones won’t be put up for sale in the US isn’t quite surprising, considering that the initial Galaxy A series and the Galaxy A (2016) weren’t sold in the country either. Still, Samsung might change its mind and provide the phones to consumers in the US in the coming month.

The new phones come with IP68 certification

The Galaxy A (2017) line comes with some improvements over its predecessor, the new phones have IP68 certification, which protects them from water and dust. The Galaxy A3 (2017) has the low-end specs in the series, with a 4.7-inch display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It has a 13MP rear camera and 8MP in the front, with a 2,350mAh battery and a 16GHz octa-core processor.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage each. The higher-end model, Galaxy A7 (2017), has a 3,600mAh battery and a 16MP camera on the back. All phones in the series come with USB Type-C ports, fast charging and Always-on Display.
