Soon after Samsung announced the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in late February, the company’s officials stated that they expect these smartphones to sell much better than the previous flagships.

Some of us did not believe that it would be possible, especially that Galaxy S7/ S7 edge do not bring any innovative features into the mix, except for the camera.

However, it looks like Samsung’s estimation was pretty good since the South Korean company has just announced that the number of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge pre-orders is bigger than that of any other previous flagship.

According to Samsung, between February 21 and March 10, the amount of Galaxy S7/S7 edge pre-orders was 2.5 times larger than any previous Galaxy S smartphone launched since the beginning of the series.

Furthermore, in the first two days after the smartphones were made available for purchase, the largest UK retailer announced a 200% increase in pre-orders for both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in comparison with those of last year’s flagships, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

61% prefer the Galaxy S7 edge

Samsung also confirmed that customers prefer the Galaxy S7 edge over the flat model. The curved Galaxy S7 accounts for no less than 61% of pre-orders while the regular model sits at 39%.

No numbers have been given by Samsung yet, so we still don’t know exactly how many Galaxy S7/S7 edge units have been sold until now.

Both Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are available for purchase in Europe beginning March 11. Some countries will get these devices by the end of the month, though.

Since we’ve been able to get our hands on the Galaxy S7 before the smartphone hit shelves, you can already read our full review for more in-depth details on what it has to offer.
