IFA Berlin approaches rapidly, and some smartphone manufacturers are expected to unveil exciting new devices. A few days ago, we reported that Samsung sent out invitations to a press conference on September 1 at IFA Berlin, hinting at a Gear S3 announcement. Now, a new image shows that the smartwatch will be unveiled one day earlier, on August 31.

The announcement shows that Samsung will be unveiling the smartwatch during the last day of August, but the poster doesn't specifically mention the Gear S3 name. The image simply showcases the sketch of a watch, with the two clock hands pointing to 6.00 sharp.

The words “Talk about 3” appear below the round watch, while “Gear” is right next to the August 31 date. Clearly, Samsung will be unveiling the Gear S3 on that day, as it has also announced that the event can be watched live on its website.

Gear S3 will come in three variants: Classic, Frontier, and Explorer

The smartwatch is expected to come with a round design and have rotary bezels, just like its predecessor. What's also important to know is that Samsung is set to unveil three variants of the new smartwatch this year, namely Gear S3 Classic, Gear S3 Frontier, and Gear S3 Explorer.

They will sport a similar design and have some features in common, especially when it comes to sensors. The Gear S3 will come with an integrated GPS, a speedometer, a barometer, altimeter, and more features.

In addition, the device could feature IP68 certification and sensors for measuring heart rate, just like its predecessor, the Gear S2, launched last year in three variants as well.

The unveiling will take place on August 31, starting at 6pm, in the Tempodrom, Berlin, Germany, during IFA 2016. Samsung is also expected to unveil the new Galaxy Tab S3 in two variants at the same event.
