14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung has been said to be working on a new flip phone, named the Galaxy Folder 2, and the device has already received all relevant certifications, including from TENNA. Promotional images have also leaked recently, and it seems that the South Korean giant has already listed the handset on its website from China.
Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 (SM-G1600) has been listed on Samsung China's website, as spotted by Roland Quandt. The smartphone is accompanied by detailed specs and images that show off its design and size.
It's a rather low-end smartphone, and its display size is quite small, but Samsung seems to have found a market for such flip phones in China, considering that the Folder 2 is the successor to last year's Galaxy Folder.
The design isn't much different from last year's model, having a keyboard and buttons for navigating the operating system. In addition, the device only seems to come in a gold color variant, as opposed to last year's model, which was made available in a dark blue color as well.
The Galaxy Folder 2 has 16B of internal memory and 2GB of RAM
The Galaxy Folder 2 sports a 3.8-inch TFT display with just 480 x 800 pixel resolution. It has a 1.4GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and provides 16GB of internal memory. Internal storage can be expanded to 128GB using a microSD card, which is quite nice since 16GB has become insufficient on mobile phones. It seems that the microSD slot is part of the Dual SIM card tray, meaning that it could be used for a SIM or for expanding memory.
The smartphone has a rear camera capacity of 8MP with f/1.9 aperture and auto focus and LED flash. The 5MP front camera also has f/1.9 aperture. The phone weighs 160grams and boasts a full-metal body while the 1,950mAh battery should be sufficient for keeping its lights on. It's also worth knowing that the Folder 2 measures 122 x 60.2 x 15.4 mm. The smartphone's price has yet to be revealed.
