Samsung demoed a new version of the Flow app at MWC 2017, showing that it’s now possible to use the fingerprint sensor of a Galaxy smartphone to unlock a Samsung Windows 10 device, such as the newly-introduced Galaxy Book.

This feature was previously limited to just a single device, but Samsung has been working specifically on making it available to more customers, especially now that it’s investing more in Windows 10 with new models running the operating system presented at the Barcelona tech conference.

The new Samsung Flow version makes it possible to use biometric authentication by simply bringing together phones and smartphones, so whenever you want to log in to your Windows 10 device, all you have to do is to scan the fingerprint on the Galaxy phone.

Phone notifications on your desktop

Another feature introduced by the updated Flow app is the possibility of getting phone notifications right on your desktop. Windows 10 adopters probably know that similar features have already been introduced in the operating system by Microsoft with help from digital assistant Cortana, but Samsung is aiming for a smoother integration that works across its devices.

While Microsoft requires Android phone users to have Cortana on their devices and be logged in with the same account on phones and PCs, Samsung keeps devices in sync with the Flow app, bringing phone notifications right on your desktop in the form of a typical toast notification.

And last but not least, Samsung Galaxy owners are also getting file sharing features, so you can easily send files and documents from your phone to the Samsung Windows 10 device and the other way around with just a few touches.

The video below shows the app in action on a Samsung Galaxy phone and Galaxy Book Windows 10 device, and if you want to give it a try, all you have to do is download the mobile version of Samsung Flow and the Windows 10 sibling here.
