The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were announced about a week ago, but reports say that Samsung has already started work on the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy Note 8. Details about the Galaxy Note 8 have just emerged.

Samsung has already begun developing software for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, while software build numbers are the following: N950FXXU0AQC6/ N950FOXM0AQC6/ N950FXXU0AQC6. The Galaxy Note 8 is codenamed “Great” and is expected to feature a larger screen, of about 6.4 inches, possibly a dual-curved display with 4k resolution.

Details about the successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 7 are quite scarce, but some reports point towards 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The phone will most likely feature an iris scanner, a tool that represented one of the main selling points for the Note 7. In addition, this year’s model should run the latest Snapdragon 835 platform, while the S Pen could see some improvements.

Build numbers for the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 were also assigned

The report also mentions that Samsung also assigned build numbers for the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 models, respectively N935LKLU2AQD2/ N935LLUC2AQD2/ N935LKLU2AQD2. The refurbished variant of last year’s Galaxy Note 7 will carry model number SM-N935 and will arrive to several markets, but not the US.

Samsung confirmed its intention to bring a refurbished variant, and revealed that pricing and availability details would be announced at a later date. Semiconductors and camera modules from the units that won’t be refurbished will be detached for reuse. Refurbished Galaxy Note 7 units will most likely see their batteries swapped for safer units and undergo rigorous quality assurance tests to make sure that they don’t pose any safety risks for consumers.

For now, the company is focusing on its Galaxy S8 flagship and even ramped up production for the larger Galaxy S8+ model, amid high demand.
