Only a few of hours have passed since Samsung unveiled its latest flagship, the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 7, and the hype surrounding this device only seems to increase, considering that now we can analyze each and every single feature in detail.

Samsung introduced the redesigned S Pen stylus as more than just a writing tool, but “the gateway to getting more done efficiently and accurately.” Enhanced features of the S Pen allow users to slide out the stylus and start writing on the Note 7's screen, without having to unlock the phone first. This Screen off memo feature also allows users to pin memos to the Always On Display.

Moreover, the S Pen enjoys new Air Command features that enable it to Translate words in images and text documents, as well as use the Magnify tool for zooming in on certain areas of the screen, by simply hovering the S Pen over them. Aside from this, the stylus can be used for creating and sharing GIF animations with the Smart Select tool.

A new unified application in the Note 7 allows users to organize handwritten notes, draw or even edit memos from one single location. The Samsung Notes app also lets users transfer their files from their old phones using the Smart Switch app.

The new S Pen comes with a smaller tip and improved pressure sensitivity

As for the design, the new S Pen comes with a smaller 0.7mm tip and improved pressure sensitivity that allows it to provide an authentic pen-like experience. The difference in tip size is quite significant, considering that the previous S Pen had a size of 1.6mm.

The Galaxy Note 7 comes with IP68 certification, as does the S Pen, which makes it water- and dust-resistant. The new S Pen also withstands a higher pressure level of 4096, compared to the 2048 on the previous stylus.

The S Pen uses an electromagnetic field so that the display can recognize the S Pen from a distance of up to 14 millimeters.
