14 DAY TRIAL // Rygel developer Jens Georg has announced on the GNOME mailing list the immediate availability for download and testing of the first milestone in the upcoming Rygel 0.30 stable series of the open-source media server software.
According to the release notes, which we have also attached at the end of the article for reference, Rygel 0.29.1 is here to bring support for the Lightweight Media Scanner software designed for embedded devices via a plugin, update the license text of the source code for the LGPLv2.1 or later licenses, as well as to update the license of the application's logo to CC-BY-SA-3.0.
Furthermore, Rygel 0.29.1 patches a server crash that occurred if the plugins folder was missing, and a second crash that occurred when the protocol information was empty. An issue related to how the end byte was calculated in partial requests has been fixed as well for the server component, along with some code cleanup.
Also for the server, the Rygel development team has managed to add support for the INTERACTIVE transport mode to the playlists, as well as the ability to set the albumArtURI variable when attempting to apply the DIDL function on an UpdateObject call.
Transmuxing is no longer part of the GStreamer media engine
Among other changes implemented in Rygel 0.29.1, we can mention the removal of the broken transmuxing functionality from the GStreamer media engine, support for VIDEO_TS folders and ISO files in the MediaExport functionality, which has also received some much-needed code cleanup.
Last but not least, there's now an option to allow users to un-blacklist files from the MediaExport database to mx-info. As usual, several other bugs have been fixed as well in this new development release of Rygel.
