Just a few minutes ago, Arne Exton released a new version of his AndEX Live CD based on Google's latest Android mobile operating system, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and the upstream Android-x86 project.

Powered by Mr. Exton's special Linux kernel 4.0.9-exton, which contains additional drivers to bring support for old and modern hardware, the latest version of the AndEX Live CD includes the GAPPS package that gives users access to various Google services and applications.

Among the pre-installed Google apps and services, we can mention Google Play Services, Google Play store, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, and Google Chrome, which is the default web browser. Additionally, the AndEX Build 151206 has many other extra applications pre-installed, including Facebook, Spotify, OfficeSuite 8, as well as Aptoide.

"Marshmallow 6.0 is the latest version of the Android mobile operating system developed by Google. I call my remaster of it AndEX Marshmallow Live CD. It uses 'my' special kernel 4.0.9-exton-android-x86 with some extra features, i.e. extra drivers," said Arne Exton. "What’s the point? Well, if you like your Android phone and all the apps you have installed on it I’m sure you will also like to run apps from your laptop."

You can install Android apps via Google Play Store

One of the advantages of AndEX Live CD is that you can install additional Android apps via Google Play Store. Of course, it is also possible to install third-party Android applications that cannot be found in Google Play Store, using the built-in Aptoide Apps Store package manager.

Users can run AndEX Live CD on their personal computers or laptops directly from a USB flash drive, or install the Android-x86 operating system on their PC's disk drives. Detailed installation instructions are provided by Arne Exton on the project's website, from where you can also buy AndEX Live CD for the sum of $9 (€8).
