14 DAY TRIAL // Apple is expected to host its annual keynote in September this year, during which the company will announce the new iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. An alleged official note sent to Apple staff reveals that the keynote could be held on September 17.
The staff note mentions blackout dates for days when AppleCare staff will be most busy. The dates range between September 17 and November 4. September 17 is on a Sunday, but it’s highly unlikely that the event will actually be held then, seeing how such keynotes have been held on Wednesdays in the past few years. In 2016, Apple held the keynote on September 7, on a Wednesday.
The memo posted by Benjamin Geskin reads, "As you know, there are new product announcements and launches in September." Benjamin Geskin has shared many rumors on the iPhone 8 lately, although he did say that he wasn’t 100% sure of some information that he shared.
That being said, take the information with a grain of salt, as the official keynote date has yet to be announced. Moreover, the release date for the new phones is pegged for September 25, a few days after the phone will supposedly be unveiled. Some reports have said that the iPhone 8 shipments could be delayed due to production issues, but that remains to be seen.
Optical Touch ID expected on the new iPhone 8
A report from earlier today revealed that the iPhone 8 could come with an optical Touch ID built into its OLED screen. The optical fingerprint sensor will allow users to simply place their finger on the screen and unlock the phone.
Aside from this, the iPhone 8 will also come with wireless charging, just like the 4.7-inch iPhone 7s and 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus. Moreover, the OLED iPhone is expected to feature a 5.8-inch edge-to-edge display and run the latest A11 processor. It will also come with 3D facial recognition and augmented reality features.
