LG has just unveiled a new rugged smartphone, part of the X series of devices with IP68 certification and MIL-STD 810G military grade certification to attest that the smartphone can endure heavy usage. The device is essentially a mid-ranger and its main highlight is its rugged body.

The LG X Venture comes with a 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 platform with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card.

The rear camera has a 16MP sensor, while the selfie snapper consists of a 5MP camera with wide-angle features. The LG X Venture draws power from a 4,100mAh battery with quick charging features, which allow the phone to charge from 0 to 100% in less than two hours.

It also features a fingerprint sensor embedded in the front physical home button and the device runs Android Nougat out of the box. The rugged smartphone can withstand shock and immersions in up to 1.5 meters of water without suffering any major damages. The phone also comes with Gorilla Glass coating on its display and features a metal frame with non-slip design.

Those interested in buying the LG X Venture should know that the smartphone will arrive at AT&T on May 26 for $11 per month for 30 months, which means a retail price of $330 in total. Customers who are looking for a rugged smartphone with a higher performance should simply wait for the Galaxy S8 Active to arrive.                                                                       The rugged variant of the Galaxy S8 is expected to arrive at AT&T next month and it should feature roughly the same internals as the standard model, with some differences. The battery capacity is said to be higher than the 3,000mAh juicer on the Galaxy S8, while the Galaxy S8 Active won’t come with an Infinity Display, but rather a flat screen, as recent rumors showed. IP68 and MIL-STD 810G certification will be featured on the new phone.
