Finnish developer and publisher of mobile games, Rovio, has just announced a new game in the Angry Birds franchise. Nothing out of the ordinary since the company launched at least 10 other Angry Birds games in the last couple of years.

The good news is this is not just another Angry Birds game, as Rovio announces that it's now ready to bring fans the sequel to the original Angry Birds game that was launched about 6 years ago.

According to Rovio, Angry Birds 2 will be officially unveiled on July 28, during an event in San Francisco, United States. However, the game won't be available until two days later.

“With 3 billion game downloads, millions of fans across the globe, multiple mashups and spin-offs, collaborations with A-list celebrities and much more, we’re really proud that Angry Birds is the mother of all mobile game apps.

“And now we’re proud to announce the mother of all sequels – Angry Birds 2! ...Angry Birds 2 flocks into app stores worldwide on July 30. Get ready to fall in love again!” said Rovio in a blog post.

Unfortunately, details on Angry Birds 2 are scarce at the moment, but we do know the game will be available in “app store” worldwide from July 30.

It might be available for free on Android & iOS

We expect the new title to be available on both Android and iOS platform at launch, though it won't come as a surprise if Angry Birds 2 will arrive on iOS first and then on Google's platform one or more weeks later.

Even though the original game is already available on all major mobile platforms, including Android, BlackBerry, iOS and Windows Phone, the sequel will only be released on a few of them.

Angry Birds 2 is likely to be available for free on both Android and iOS. Windows Phone fans will probably have to wait a while longer for Rovio to bring its new game on Microsoft's platform. In fact, there's a high chance that won't happen until Microsoft releases Windows 10 Mobile.
