About 2 weeks ago, Kim Kardashian inexplicably landed the cover of music magazine Rolling Stone, to promote her book of selfies, “Selfish,” which actually came out in April. Singer Sinead O’Connor is a bit late to the party but she’s here nonetheless, to lament the death of music.

And she’s looking at Rolling Stone as guilty of killing it, by putting a reality star who has nothing to do with the industry on the cover.

Sinead O’Connor has words for Kim Kardashian

In a post she published on Facebook some hours ago, Sinead unloads on Rolling Stone and Kim Kardashian, by saying what was on most people’s mind: Kim had no place on the cover and the magazine deserved to be boycotted for putting her there.

“What is this [expletive] (‘I don't smile much because it causes wrinkles’) doing on the cover of Rolling Stone?” Sinead asks. “Music has officially died. Who knew it would be Rolling Stone that murdered it? Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh can no longer be expected to take all the blame. Bob Dylan must be [expletive]-ing horrified.”

She tags the post with #BoycottRollingStone and #AGenerationIsBeingGroomedAndSilenced, and based on the response she’s been getting, she’s not alone in thinking this way.

Indeed, what’s up with Kim on the cover of Rolling Stone?

Kim Kardashian is one of the biggest celebrities around. Whether you hate her or not, there’s no denying that she’s everywhere and that her relationship and later marriage to rapper Kanye West has boosted her public profile.

Right now, Kim is considered a fashionista and a trendsetter (though few women could or would actually wear half the stuff she steps out in), a fashion designer, a savvy businesswoman and an A-list celebrity.

She is one of the few reality stars to be able to boast of going from the D-list to the showbiz elite. Her husband Kanye would even go as far as to label her “the Marilyn Monroe of our times,” though that’s a highly debatable statement.

Kim has her hands in countless pies and it seems that everything she touches turns to gold. Everything but music, that is.

Embedded below is Kim’s hilarious attempt at breaking on the scene as a pop star. The single was received so poorly that she scrapped all plans to launch a full album. The thought that her former BFF Paris Hilton did so much better with her “Stars Are Blind” must still be tormenting Kim.

The bottom line is that she has nothing in common with the music industry, save for trying to become a pop star once (and failing) and marrying the self-titled “greatest rock star alive on the planet right now.”

But sleeping with someone in the music industry on the regular shouldn’t qualify one for the Rolling Stone cover. If it did, we should also get covers with Madonna’s boytoys and Janet Jackson’s husband, or the wives of the U2 guys, or any of the guys Taylor Swift dated.
