Softpedia has been informed today, June 20, 2016, by Suman Chakravartula about the immediate availability for download of the Linux kernel-based Rockstor 3.8-14 NAS-oriented operating system.

Rockstor 3.8-14 arrives as an upgrade to the previous release (Rockstor 3.8-13) announced exactly two months ago, bringing a new interface that lets users power down HDDs to conserve electricity and reduce noise, as well as an easy-to-use method for browsing and fetching logs.

But that's not all that has been added to the Rockstor 3.8-14 update, as more than 30 bugs and issues reported by users since Rockstor 3.8-13 or previous releases have been resolved, and there are also the usual enhancements to offer better support to paid customers.

"To better organize support matters and provide a reliable platform for our paying users, we’ve launched a new support portal, using osticket. We hope to provide more value to customers purchasing incident bundles," says Suman Chakravartula in today's announcement.

AD improvements, task scheduling gets anacron-like feature

Among various improvements that have been introduced in today's release of Rockstor 3.8-14 is a new anacron-like feature that will make task scheduling jobs a breeze, as well as small enhancements to the Active Directory information pop-up. In addition, it looks like the selection of multiple disks during resize operations will work much better now.

Moreover, rfc2307 support has been added to the Active Directory (AD) integration, the replication tasks have finally received pagination support, it is a lot easier to configure SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), and the configuration of the Appliance UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) will be kept during reinstalls.

The full changelog of Rockstor 3.8-14 is available below just in case you were wondering what bugs have been fixed. In the meantime, feel free to upgrade your current Rockstor installation to version 3.8-14, or if you're new to this free and open-source NAS (Network Attached Storage) solution, download the ISO image.
