Pop star insists she’s not a role model, unlike Taylor

Based on unconfirmed reports online, we should have gotten a new Rihanna album a long time ago. As the Barbadian pop star hints in her new interview with NME, it might be another while until that happens, because “it’s not done yet.”

While keeping busy with other projects, Rihanna is also hitting the studio and laying down tracks for her next album release. However, she says - and this is bound to come as a huge disappointment for her loyal fans - the album is not complete yet.

She has plenty of finished songs that she loves, but many of them don’t fit on a single album. There’s also the issue of her busy schedule, she adds, which makes it difficult for her to be in the same spot as her production team to work more on the album.

Rihanna also talks a bit about Taylor Swift and why she would never ever step up on the same stage as her, as her special guest at her shows. Taylor has turned celebrity guest appearances into a feature of her 1989 Tour shows, with famous people from music, sports and film joining her on stage.

Rihanna will never be up there, she says.

“I just don’t think it makes sense,” she explains. “I don’t think our brands are the same; I don’t think they match. I don’t think our audiences are the same. In my mind she’s a role model, I’m not.”
