14 DAY TRIAL // Capcom has confirmed two big things for its ongoing efforts in resurrecting the older Resident Evil titles. First up, in January of 2016, it'll launch Resident Evil 0 HD, which includes a playable version of Wesker, as well as a Resident Evil Origins Collection, which will bring us 0 and the recent Resident Evil HD Remaster.
Capcom's Resident Evil series has been around for many years, but unfortunately for the Japanese company, newer installments have failed to live up to the franchise's legacy, according to most fans and critics.
As such, the studio began to re-release older installments, starting with Resident Evil HD Remaster earlier this year. The trend is set to continue with the upcoming Resident Evil 0 HD, as well as the recently confirmed Resident Evil 2 remake.
The Origins Collection and Resident Evil 0 debut in January
Now, the company confirms in a statement that it's going to debut the HD remake of Resident Evil 0 on January 19, 2016, in North America, and January 22, in Europe, across PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. As a special token of appreciation for fans, the developer is adding a brand new playable character besides Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen, in the form of noted villain Albert Wesker.
He will be playable in a special Wesker Mode that teams him up with Rebecca Chambers and offers them two special outfits. Wesker also brings new abilities, which you can enjoy in the video and screenshots below.
At the same time, Capcom is going to launch the Resident Evil Origins Collection. This special pack includes 0 HD as well as the recent remaster of Resident Evil 1, in a single package for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles only.
Resident Evil 0 HD is going to cost $19.99/€19.99, while the Origins Collection is getting a price of $39.99/€39.99.
