Apple’s anniversary iPhone 8 is surely one of the most anticipated smartphones to be announced this year and, fortunately, information about the phone continues to leak online. The latest image that surfaced shows the iPhone 8 next to the iPhone 7, revealing that the former will be bigger.

The dimensions point to an overall size of 143.59 x 70.94 x 7.57 mm for the iPhone 8, compared to iPhone 7’s 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm. This means that the upcoming smartphone will be taller and wider than last year’s iPhone, but also thicker allowing for a larger battery inside, but its capacity is unknown at this point.

The latest image which surfaced at iDropNews does corroborate previous claims that the iPhone 8 will be bigger than the iPhone 7, but smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus. In addition, this year’s iPhone will have a bigger OLED display, but in a relatively small body, considering that it will ditch the physical home button. The iPhone 7 Plus carries the dimensions 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm, making the iPhone 8 considerably smaller.

A second render created by Benjamin Geskin reveals the iPhone 8 between the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Just like in the previous image, the iPhone 8 appears to be larger than Samsung’s standard Galaxy S8, but smaller than the larger Galaxy S8+ with a 6.2-inch Infinity Display in the front. The Galaxy S8+ will be the iPhone 8’s main competitor this year.

The OLED iPhone is expected to come with an edge-to-edge display of about 5.8 inches, but the placement of the Touch ID is uncertain at this point. Some rumors suggested that the fingerprint sensor could be located on the back of the device, while others said that it might be placed underneath the display.

It’s difficult to say at this point, but Apple is surely intending to go with the second option. Aside from this, the phone will come with a 3D sensing camera in the front, which is why the display has a cutout at the top, together with wireless charging and AR features.
