Jide Technology informs Softpedia about the availability of an updated version of its Remix OS distribution for personal computers based on the open-source Android-x86 project.

The biggest new feature of the Remix OS update is that the entire operating system has been rebased on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow technologies, marking the next step in the evolution of Remix OS for PCs and implementing most of the features requested by users for so long. With this major change in its infrastructure, Remix OS is now installable on almost all Intel-based desktops and laptops, as well as on Macs.

"A couple of things really helped us to improve the user experience for this Android 6.0 upgrade of Remix OS," says Jeremy Chau, Co-Founder of Jide Technology. "First, we collected all the feedback our user community sent us and prioritized our development work based on their needs. Second, Chih-Wei Huang’s (Android-x86 Open Source Project founder) addition to our team has been huge."

Here's what's new in Remix OS 3.0.101

Remix OS 3.0.101 is currently the latest stable and most advanced version of the Android-x86 fork, and it looks like it comes with support for multiple windows by implementing a new button that lets users resize windows for an optimal layout on any screen, full-screen support for video-based applications, as well as the ability to resize windows manually anywhere along the edge of the window.

Best of all, Remix OS 3.0 is now freely available for download for anyone who wants to run the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system on their personal computers. Make sure that you have a 64-bit or 32-bit PC with at least 2 GB RAM, a 2 GHz dual-core processor or better, 8 GB free disk space for the installation, and Internet access.
