Although it looked like laptops stole the show at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, Kingston just couldn’t stay away from the celebration and unveiled what seems to be the world’s first 2TB USB flash drive.

Called the DataTraveler Ultimate GT (Generation Terabyte), the new device has bigger capacity than many of our hard drives and it’s insane just to imagine how much space manufacturers manage to offer these days on a product this small.

Kingston’s new USB flash drive measures only 72mm x 26.94mm x 21mm, so it’s super-easy to carry around at all times, without having to worry that you’ll run out of space. And what’s more, it’s nearly impossible to lose it because of shocks or things like that because Kingston designed it specifically to be shock-resistant with a zinc-alloy metal case.

No pricing info just yet

The device will be offered in two different capacities, with 1TB and 2TB, but unfortunately, pricing details are not available for the time being. Kingston, however, says that it will go on sale next month, with more info to be shared shortly.

“Power users will have the ability to store massive amounts of data in a small form factor, including up to 70 hours of 4K video on a single 2TB drive. DataTraveler Ultimate GT offers superior quality in a high-end design as it is made of a zinc-alloy metal casing for shock resistance. Its compact size gives the tech enthusiast or professional user an easily portable solution to store and transfer their high capacity files,” Kingston explained in a press statement.

In terms of technical specs, there’s not much to say about the USB flash drive, other than the fact that it supports USB 3.1 speeds and can work between -25 degrees Celsius and 60 degrees Celsius.

And of course, it’ll support pretty much every little thing that has a USB port, including here PCs powered by Windows, Mac OS X, Linux devices, tablets, and Chrome OS devices.
