14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung launched the Galaxy Note FE in South Korea last week, and it looks like the device is already super-successful, with several retailers already out of stock, according to local reports.
The Korea Times says the refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is already hard to find in the country, despite the 400,000 units that were part of the original stock. Furthermore, there are reports that the Note FE increased daily device activations by 60 percent, which confirms the phablet is selling like hot cakes.
The Black Onyx and the Blue Coral versions of the Note FE are the most successful, early figures show, and Samsung says that once the device sells out completely, no other units would be made available in the country (though there are plans for the device to launch globally as well)
Right now, the Samsung Note FE sells for approximately $610 in South Korea, which means it’s $250 more affordable than the original model.
It doesn’t go boom
The Samsung Note FE is nearly identical with the Note 7, with one big difference (and a few other smaller ones): it does not explode.
The Note 7 was pulled from the market after a failed attempt to replace the faulty battery suffering from overheating, so Samsung played the safe card this time and equipped the FE with a 3200 mAh unit with super-low risk of similar issues.
Other than that, the FE is just like the original model, so it comes with a 5.7-inch display with 1440x2560 pixels resolution and is powered by an Exynos 8890 octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM. It offers 64GB storage and microSD card support with up to 256GB capacity.
The true successor to the Note 7 is expected to launch in a couple of months, with reports claiming the Note 8 could see daylight with a 6.3-inch display and an S8-like design in the second half of September. Other sources claim late August is more likely to witness the debut of the new phone, just ahead of IFA in early September.
