Red Hat Software Collections 2.4 Beta and Red Hat Developer Toolset 6.1 Beta released

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux team, through John Terrill, informs Softpedia today, April 5, 2017, about the availability of the Beta releases of the upcoming Red Hat Software Collections 2.4 and Red Hat Developer Toolset 6.1 tools.

Designed for aspiring developers who want to create modern applications, Red Hat Software Collections 2.4 Beta delivers a set of new language additions that include nginx 1.10, Node.js 6, Ruby 2.4, Ruby on Rails 5.0, and Scala 2.10, along with the Apache 2.4, Apache Maven 3.3, Eclipse 4.6.2, Python 2.7, and Thermostat 1.6 updated runtime languages and databases.

On the other hand, Red Hat Developer Toolset 6.1 Beta includes the latest GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) 6.3.1 and GDB (GNU Debugger) 7.12.1 releases, and adds support for the latest Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Power, Red Hat Enterprise Linux for z Systems, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server for ARM Developer Preview operating systems.

"Applications built with Red Hat Software Collections can be deployed into production with greater confidence than by using standalone, unsupported developer languages and tools, as most software collections and components are supported for three years," reads today's announcement. "Red Hat Developer Toolset enables developers to compile applications once and deploy across multiple versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux."

Now available through the Red Hat Developer Program

Both Red Hat Software Collections 2.4 Beta and Red Hat Developer Toolset 6.1 Beta releases are now accessible for all customers who want to get an early taste of what's coming in these maintenance updates through the Red Hat Developer Program, as well as the related Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions, including the no-cost Red Hat Enterprise Linux Developer subscription.

Developers are being informed that any application created with the Red Hat Software Collections containers are supported on both Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 operating system series, as well as Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host. Dockerfiles and docker-formatted images are available on the Red Hat Customer Portal.
