Red Hat has announced a partnership with Samsung aimed at the enterprise market, which marks a very important milestone for the company, its entry into the mobile world.

When you hear the name Red Hat, you usually think about the operating system with the same name, Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This is the most successful commercial Linux distribution available, although Red Hat does much more than just a distro. It's a huge billion dollar company, and they are involved in the cloud, servers, maintenance, you name it. One the other hand, the mobile market was not one of them, at least until now.

Unfortunately for regular users, the new partnership between Red Hat and Samsung won't mean anything. Their goal is to deliver the next generation of mobile solutions for the enterprise client, so we're talking about the integration of enterprise application for various organizations.

Red Hat is not a company that operates on the surface of things. They provide the backbone for numerous organization and companies and they are going to do the same with their Red Hat Mobile Application Platform, which will manage stuff like workforce management, customer service, inventory catalog, pricing, invoicing, and so on. It's mostly the stuff that you never see happening, but it's an integral part of a business.

Red Hat's partnership with Samsung is here to last

When Red Hat gets implicated in any kind of business or enterprise, it doesn't usually fail, so it's very likely that they will provide important services to Samsung for a long time.

"Red Hat brings flexibility, community credibility, and world-class support for application development and deployments on premise and across private, public, and hybrid cloud environments. Building on its leading position in consumer products, Samsung Business Services, part of Samsung Electronics America, Inc., provides a diverse portfolio of technologies targeted for business from smartphones to wearables, tablets, digital displays, hospitality TVs and printers," reads the official announcement.

From what the two companies have said so far, only the US will be covered by this partnership, at least for now.
