Softpedia was informed today, November 3, 2016, by John Terrill from Red Hat about the general availability of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 operating system for existing and new customers.

Until today, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 has been in the Beta stages of development, but customers can now finally upgrade their installations from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 or previous versions and enjoy the new features Red Hat's engineers have prepared for the latest release of the enterprise-oriented operating system.

Prominent new features of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 include the implementation of lightweight tunnels for improving the networking for bandwidth-intensive apps, such as video conferencing, by streamlining data transmission and receiving, along with a Technology Preview (TP) of a new container signing capability.

"Delivering enhancements to performance, reliability and security as well as new features around Linux container and IoT, the latest version of Red Hat's flagship operating system is designed to help enterprises use existing investments as they scale to meet new business demands," reads the press announcement received by Softpedia.

Another interesting feature implemented in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 is a complex compliance checking mechanism that seems to work across traditional, non-container and containerized workloads, providing an overall boost to the efficiency of operations offered by the OpenSCAP auditing tool.

Last but not least, today's Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 release ships with updates across all of the operating system's variants, including but not limited to Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server for ARM Development Preview and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host. Existing users with an active subscription can download Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 right now from Red Hat's Customer Portal.
