Today, August 25, 2016, Red Hat announced that version 7.3 of its powerful Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system is now in development, and a Beta build is available for download and testing.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 Beta brings lots of improvements and innovations, support for new hardware devices, and improves the overall security of the Linux kernel-based operating system used by some of the biggest enterprises and organizations around the globe. Among some of the major new features implemented in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 release, we can mention important networking improvements, and support for Non-Volatile Dual In-line Memory Modules (NVDIMMs).

"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 Beta continues Red Hat’s drive to provide enterprises with a more secure, stable platform for innovation, whether it’s Internet-of-Things (IoT) deployments or Linux container-based applications. The beta release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 includes enhancements and new features around performance, platform security, reliability and new types of enterprise technology deployments, including Linux container-based applications and IoT," reads the announcement.

Linux Containers and IoT enhancements

Also new in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 Beta is support for high-speed direct data transfer through use of traditional NFS (Network File System) semantics by allowing parallel NFS (pNFS) clients to directly mount SCSI volumes that are being shared by pNFS servers, High Availability Add-On support on the IBM z Systems platform, updates to SELinux tools for improved security, smart card authentication support for Active Directory (AD), and support for the OpenSCAP workbench.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 Beta uses version 2 of the MACSec (Media Access Control Security) protocol to enable encryption between Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and virtual machines, lets users dynamically configure RAID devices via RAID Takeover, implements both the Identity Management (IdM) client and server services as container images, and supports low-cost integrated devices via Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) for enterprise-scale IoT implementations. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 Beta is now available trough Red Hat's customer portal.
