The Red Hat Enterprise Linux team at Red Hat has announced earlier today the immediate availability for download of the first Beta release of the forthcoming Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 operating system.

Prominent features of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 Beta include improved CPU (Central Processing Unit) allocation for operations that need dedicated processor time by implementing on-demand vmstat workers in the Linux kernel packages, thus resulting in better resource balancing and processor sharing.

The first Beta build of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 brings with it improvements to the NetworkManager network connection manager utility that is used by default on GNOME-based desktop environments, such as better integration with external apps, and adds the conntrack-tools package for more efficient network connection tracking.

Furthermore, there's an all-new graphical user interface for the Performance Co-Pilot utility, helping users to better manage and analyze system performance and network connections, as well as the ability to manage the security of local disk data remotely, based on network identities.

"A focus on security, manageability and system administration, as well as a continued emphasis on the functionality to build and deploy Linux containers, helps Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 beta provide enterprises a trusted path towards the future of information technology," says Red Hat.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host is available for all customers

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 Beta includes many other attractive features, such as the inclusion of the GNOME Software application, the addition of brand new, tweaked profiles, especially for Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Real Time, and support for DNSSEC for DNS zones that can be managed by federated identities or Identity Management.

It is now possible to bind data to local networks, allowing enterprises to encrypt their systems at scale using centralized management, a new SCAP module injected in the installed lets customers apply SCAP-based security profiles while installing the OS, and new tools allow system admins to gather key I/O metrics for device-mapper device more easily.

Last but not least, the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host will still be available to all customers, while the built-in support for container-based app deployment and development has been refined. There are also improvements to user namespaces and the OverlayFS filesystem, along with enhanced storage management. Download Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 Beta from Red Hat's Customer Portal.
