Yesterday, we brought you fresh news about the HTC Aero, which will apparently make a debut into the wild as the HTC A9. Not much else is known about this so-called “Hero” product that the company is supposed to launch in the next few months, but today we get to take a sneak peek at the phone in its live form.

The HTC One M9 has been harshly criticized for looking pretty much the same as the One M8, with the company not putting enough effort into differentiating the two models. This ended up costing HTC a lot, as One M9’s sales failed to impress and put the company in a lousy position.

Well, it seems that HTC has learned some things from the One M9 failure. According to this new leak coming to us via G for Games, HTC will be providing us with a redesigned phone, but there’s a big caveat to be taken into consideration, so before you jump for joy, hear us out.

HTC Aero vs iPhone 6

An image showing the purported back of the HTC Aero has surfaced online, and surprise-surprise, the handset looks strangely familiar. And that’s because it strongly resembles the iPhone 6, with which it is outright compared in the image. As you can see for yourself, the phone shows a pronounced golden hue and seems to be a bit wider than the iPhone 6.

Since the photograph was grabbed from the social media website Weibo, we recommend you take it with a big grain of salt until we get some sort of official confirmation that this is indeed the HTC Aero and not some dummy or photoshopped unit.

The HTC Aero is expected to launch with a 5.5-inch display with 2.5D curved glass (and maybe QHD resolution, but we’re just guessing).

The handset could be powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor working hand in hand with 4GB of RAM. The rumor mill also has it that there’s a groundbreaking new camera on board the new smartphone, so say good-bye to the woes of the UltraPixel camera.
