Facebook users can react with multiple emojis to comments

Facebook officially introduced Reactions and Mentions to its Messenger application in late March. The update had brought a new icon next to each reply on Messenger, allowing users to simply tap on the icon and pick from one of the available reactions.

In a logical move, Facebook extended reactions to comments on posts, allowing users to simply hover over the Like button below comments and pick from one of the available reactions. Facebook offers users multiple emojis to react and express the emotions generated by the post.

Users can pick from like, love, haha, wow, sad and angry emojis. A Facebook spokesperson stated for Adweek that “we’ve heard from people that they’d like more ways to show their Reaction in conversations on Facebook, so we’re rolling out the ability to react to comments.”

No animation after selecting a reaction

Sadly, Facebook won’t feature an animation after selecting a Reaction to a post comment, as it happens in Messenger. The new reactions to comments appear to be available on the desktop Facebook version, as well as on the mobile app for Android and iOS.

It’s also worth mentioning that the reactions are the same as the ones that users would find for Facebook posts, but different from the ones available in the Messenger app. Facebook’s messaging application allows users to react to replies with seven emojis, including an extra one that expresses dislike. This particular emoji isn’t available among reactions for Facebook comments.

Facebook first introduced Reactions to posts in February last year, and since then more and more people have expressed their emotions using the options provided by the social network.

Facebook did announce earlier this year that people used Reactions more than 300 billion times in the first year since they were launched, so it’s only natural that Reactions would be expanded to the comments section. In addition, Facebook is said to use Reactions to build the new feed for users.
