Where To?, the augmented reality app that helps you find all types of stuff near you or far away, has been updated to version 4.1 with a number of enhancements.

In addition to finding pretty much anything for you, Where To? offers turn-by-turn voice directions using Navigon MobileNavigator, TomTom, MotionX GPS drive, Sygic, Navmii/Navfree, Waze. It also uses Google Maps, but without voice.

Version 4.1 serves up multiple pictures per place (some of them in full size); displays more reviews; displays videos for select places; supports landscape in the Homepage viewer; adds support for external directions apps Navigon Urban, Sygic, Navmii/Navfree, Waze; and improves search quality for several categories.

The app also has new categories now, including State & National Parks in USA, Canada, UK, and Australia.

Numerous bug fixes and small improvements have been implemented as well, and the app now requires iOS 4.0 or a newer version of the iPhone operating system.

“With just a few taps, you can find local hits for any type of place you are looking for. Check the found places on the built-in map or in a list sorted by distance,” says FutureTap GmbH, the developer. “Then call to make a reservation or check the homepage using the built-in web browser.”

Talking about the app’s “Surprise” feature, FutureTap adds: “Not sure what you want for dinner tonight? Use ‘Shake to Surprise’ to make the choice. Take a chance and find something new and exciting!”

Where To? - Discover your next destination has been featured by Apple in App Store Rewind 2011 in many countries, and as iPhone App of the Week. It is the winner of the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Best App Ever Awards in the category “Best Travel App”.

It costs $2.99 (2.39 EUR) and works with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
