The leader of the well-known New Juarez Cartel drug cartel has been captured in Mexico, reports say.

Officials caught up to Alberto Carrillo Fuentes, using the street name "Betty La Fea" or "Ugly Betty," in Nayarit. He has been charged with murder as well as organized crime and drug-related charges.

Fuentes was caught during an operation by Federal Police agents, Borderland Beat reports. He was found on the Nayarit Riviera in the Bucerias municipality and he was alone at the time.

Agencies from the States of Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Sonora, Coahuila and Durango, where the cartel was dealing, have taken part in the operation.

Fuentes was battling Joaquin Guzman Loera aka "El Chapo" for control of drug transactions in said states.

The Juarez Cartel was started by the suspect's brother, Amado Carrillo Fuentes. Amado had five brothers, Cipriano, Vicente, José Cruz, Alberto, and Rodolfo.

According to Wikipedia, Cipriano died in 1989 under unexplained circumstances while Rodolfo was killed in 2004.

Amado passed away in a hospital in Mexico in 1997 after submitting himself to several plastic surgeries.

Authorities believe that he was worth $25 billion (€18.9 billion) at the time, making him one of the richest drug lords of all time.

He was known as "El Señor de los Cielos" or "Lord of the Skies" for flying in cocaine to the States via private jets.

His brother, Vicente or "El Viceroy," took over the cartel's operations after Amado's death but was succeeded by Alberto after his retirement.

His appointment has been confirmed by the General Attorney's Office in Mexico, the "Procuraduria General de la Republica-PGR."

After taking control of the organization, Alberto took the Zetas and the Beltran Leyva brothers as allies against Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. A war over drug control was sparked and crime rates skyrocketed in Ciudad Juarez.
