Dubbed simply Xerus, Quirky Linux 8.0 launches today with many great new features, among which we can mention Linux kernel 4.4.7 LTS, SeaMonkey 2.40 Internet suite, BluePup GUI management for Bluetooth, as well as support for booting the ISO image on UEFI-based machines.
There's also a YASSM GUI to manage Samba, along with the YouTubeDL GUI for downloading YouTube videos. InkscapeLite has received various bug fixes, there's now daemon management in QuickSetup, as well as several new and improved applications and utilities.
"This is codenamed 'Xerus,' as it has binary compatibility with Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit package repositories. This means that Quirky is able to install DEB packages from these repositories," reads today's announcement. "Other than that, Quirky is in no way similar to Ubuntu!"

Best of all, Quirky Linux 8.0 ships with binary compatibility with the recently released Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system, thus allowing users to install various packages in the DEB file format from the main software repositories of the Ubuntu Linux operating system.
