Quantum Break, the innovative third-person shooter from Remedy Entertainment, has received a spectacular gameplay demonstration at Gamescom 2015 during the Microsoft Xbox press briefing, focusing particularly on the time manipulation mechanics present in the title.

Quantum Break was presented right alongside the actual Xbox One console back in spring of 2013, but since then, only a handful of glimpses have been revealed by developer Remedy Entertainment and publisher Microsoft.

After sharing some gameplay at Gamescom 2014 last year and skipping E3 2015 altogether in June, the game is back at the 2015 edition of Gamescom.

New videos show off gameplay and actors

During the Xbox press event, Remedy Entertainment brought forth a fresh gameplay demonstration, showcasing some great footage, not to mention a short trailer depicting the real-life actors behind the main characters, and even a release date.

The first few sequences depict some shootouts that rely not just on eliminating foes with your guns but also with your time manipulation abilities. The second portion sheds a bit more light on the story, as well as the main character, played by Shawn Ashmore, of "X-Men" fame, and his allies.

A smaller video also focuses on the actors that will bring the main characters to life in the live-action episodes that complement the core story of the Quantum Break. Besides Ashmore, other big name stars like Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger from "Game of Thrones"), Dominic Monaghan (Merry from "Lord of the Rings"), Lance Reddick (Phillip Broyles from "Fringe"), or Courtney Hope (previously seen in "NCIS") will also be featured.

An actual release date is also available

Most importantly, during the presentation, Quantum Break also got an actual release date of April 5, 2016. Quantum Break launches exclusively for the Xbox One at that time, and you can bet that all sorts of new details will be shared until then by Microsoft and Remedy Entertainment.
