Quantum Break developer Remedy Entertainment goes in-depth about the ties between the actual Xbox One exclusive game and its TV show episodes, which give context to the actual choices made by players and flesh out the movie-like story.

Quantum Break was presented to the world back in 2013 alongside the Xbox One console, and at that time, Remedy Entertainment together with Microsoft pledged to revolutionize the gaming industry by crossing the gap towards TV entertainment.

Since then, quite a bit of time has passed, and at this week's Gamescom 2015, the two companies have finally revealed a release date as well as plenty of other details about the game, its cast of actors for the TV show, and many other things.

The game and episodes form a complete package

While talking with Destructoid, Remedy's Sam Lake reveals just how the TV episodes complete the game in terms of overall story, while offering more context to the choices made by players.

Quantum Break's gameplay is divided into several acts, and at the end of each one, players have to make key choices that then get explored, alongside their actual consequences, in a 22-minute TV show. There will be around 4 such episodes and they can be skipped in case players don't care about them.

One example is given when the villain Paul Serene must choose to kill a witness that saw a shady deal go down, or threaten her family to ensure her cooperation. If she lives, the witness will then help main protagonist Jack by digging up dirt on the Monarch corporation.

Remedy emphasizes just how much the TV show and game complement each other, so it seems that those who skip over the episodes will miss out on some interesting sequences or plot development.

Quantum Break debuts on Xbox One on April 5, 2016, worldwide.
