The chipset vendor managed to restore clients' confidence

Many handset makers have already confirmed that their next flagship smartphones landing in 2016 will come equipped with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 820 chipset.

Some of them haven't been that clear about that, but thanks to multiple leaks coming from various sources we established that the Snapdragon 820 will be at the core of many high-end smartphones that haven't been announced yet.

The information is confirmed once again (if you had any doubt) by industry sources. According to a new report coming from Digitimes, Qualcomm managed to restore clients' confidence in its products, which is why the US-based company landed a majority of chip orders for flagship smartphones in 2016.

We already know that Samsung, HTC and Xiaomi will launch their Snapdragon 820-powered flagship smartphones in the first quarter of 2016, while LG and Sony Mobile will bring their top-of-the-line handsets on the market in the second quarter.

Snapdragon 820 CPU will be at the core of many high-end smartphones

Apparently, Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 820 chipset has already won design-in in more than 70 models of smartphones and terminal-end devices, with the first batch of models to arrive on the market in Q1 2016, sources claim.

But Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony Mobile and Xiaomi won't be the only companies in the smartphone business that have decided to adopt Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset.

Many other unnamed companies won't to be able to compete with the flagships mentioned earlier, so they will have to include the Snapdragon 820 processor inside their products as well.

For those unfamiliar with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, the chipset is based on a quad-core architecture and it's manufactured using Samsung's 2nd generation 14nm FinFET LPP (Low Power Plus) process node.

We expect the first smartphones powered by Snapdragon 820 chipsets to be announced as early as January (Xiaomi Mi5), but they will probably not be available on the market until a few months later.
