14 DAY TRIAL // Today, December 14, 2016, the development team behind the Qt-based, free, open-source, and cross-platform qBittorrent BitTorrent client announced the general availability of the qBittorrent 3.3.8 and 3.3.9 maintenance updates.
After being in development for the last three months, qBittorrent 3.3.8 is here as the latest and most advanced stable version of the popular torrent and magnet downloader, implementing initial support for newer libtorrent APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) from the upcoming 1.1.x branch, which is currently in development.
"Libtorrent 1.1.x series isn't officially supported yet. This qBittorent release uses API of 1.1.x that hasn't been released yet. It is in their git branch for now. Wait for 1.1.2 release, or build from RC_1_1 branch, or build against the 1.0.x series," explained the qBittorrent developers on the release notes page.
New DHT bootstrap node implementation lands
While qBittorrent 3.3.8 looks like a bugfix release, there's also a new feature added, namely a brand-new Distributed Hash Table (DHT) bootstrap node implementation, which is maintained by the creator of the open-source libtorrent library. Also, qBittorrent now lets users disable the download of tracker's favicon.
Starting with qBittorrent 3.3.8 you can use the Shift + mouse scroll combination to horizontally scroll the main window of the application. The Demonoid search plugin was updated and the TorrentReactor one removed. A bunch of cosmetic changes landed too, and there's a workaround for a Qt 5 bug on GNU/Linux platforms.
qBittorrent 3.3.8 adds support for the Icelandic, Occitan, Latvian, Uzbek, and Malay languages, and updates the Portuguese, Brazilian Portugues, and Turkish translations. The full list of changes is attached below for more details and you can now download the binary and source packages for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows systems. qBittorrent 3.3.9 was released as well today to fix three bugs.
