qBittorrent 184.108.40.206 Arrives with a Fix for the Heartbleed Bug
The latest version of qBittorrent can be downloaded from Softpedia
qBittorrent, a multi-platform BitTorrent client developed in C++/Qt4 by Christophe Dumez, designed to run on all major platforms, is now at version 220.127.116.11.The new build of qBittorrent, 18.104.22.168, has arrived with only one fix, for the Heartbleed bug. The developers didn't implement any other fixes or changes for the new version and the only reason for this update is the correction mentioned above.
You might think that a simple torrent client is not affected by the Heartbleed problem, which showed just how much the OpenSSL library is exposed to attacks, but good torrent clients also have a web UI function. Fortunately, the Linux build was not affected by the issue (the developers don't explain why), but a new version has been issued either way.
“This is an excuse to produce new builds with an OpenSSL version that isn't affected by the heartbleed bug for Windows and Mac. This bug should only affect the WebUI and only if HTTPS/SSL authentication was enabled,” said the developer in the changelog. If you are using qBittorrent, you will probably get the update from the system repository.
A complete backlog of changes and updates is available in the official announcement. You can also check our review of the application. You can download qBittorrent 22.214.171.124 right now from Softpedia.
