A highly efficient two-panel Applications menu

We've been informed today, April 9, 2016, by the developers of the Q4OS project, a Debian-based GNU/Linux operating system, about the release and immediate availability for download of Q4OS 1.4.9.

Q4OS 1.4.9 is not a major release of the Debian-based OS, but a maintenance one that brings various improvements and bug fixes, along with a few new features, such as the implementation of a new Applications Menu (a.k.a. Start Menu) called "Bourbon."

The Q4OS devs have told us that the brand-new "Bourbon" Start Menu is, in fact, a two-panel Applications menu that proved to be highly customizable and efficient during the tests they've run over the last few months, since the February release of Q4OS 1.4.7.

"We introduce 'Bourbon' start menu, the brand new default start menu in Q4OS. The two panel 'Bourbon' menu is highly efficient and customizable and features a search line, favorites, history and more options," the developers have explained.

Rebased on Debian GNU/Linux 8.4 "Jessie"

Now that the Debian Project has unveiled the next point release in the development cycle of the "Jessie" series of operating systems, Debian GNU/Linux 8.4, it was the right move for the Q4OS developers to rebase their distribution on this new revision.

So again, Q4OS 1.4.9 comes as an upgrade to the Q4OS 1.4.7 release announced two months ago, and it is recommended to upgrade as soon as possible if you're running that version or a previous one.

All the latest security patches and software updates released during these two months are now available in the Q4OS 1.4.9 Live and installable ISO images, which you can download right now via our website.
