The developers of the Q4OS Linux distribution built around the Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE) and derived from the popular Debian GNU/Linux 8.1 (Jessie) operating system had the pleasure of informing Softpedia about the immediate availability for download of Q4OS 1.2.5.

Dubbed Orion, the Q4OS 1.2.5 Linux distro adds a highly anticipated feature, enhanced power management support, which means that the distribution will now be capable of detecting more types of external disk drive partitions that are being attached to the host machine.

Moreover, the new Q4OS version brings much needed optimizations to the desktop profiler tool, so that it can more accurately install profiles into the base system. Also, multiple issues reported by users since the previous release of the distribution, Q4OS 1.2.3, have been closed, and there are many under-the-hood improvements.

"Several internal improvements and bug fixes has been closed. There is a new 'q4os-api' package, that establishes Q4OS specific application binary interface for C/C++ developers. [...] We exert considerable effort on the development of the Q4OS live installation media now. It could be released in about a month," the announcement says.

Q4OS Live CDs coming next month

In addition to the changes mentioned above, the Q4OS 1.2.5 release promises to offer specific application binary interface to C and C++ developers, by introducing a brand-new package into the base system, called q4os-api. Download Q4OS 1.2.5 right now from Softpedia.

Q4OS 1.2.5 is available for download as 64- and 32-bit installable-only ISO images, which means that you won't be able to preview the OS prior to installing it on your computer. However, it looks like that's going to change soon, as the team is working hard to bring you the Q4OS live installation media, which should be released next month.
