Sony is expected to announce a plethora of new smartphones during MWC this month, ranging from low-end units to premium smartphones. The Xperia XA 2 has leaked in multiple images in the past few weeks and a new report reveals that the phone has just received FCC certification.

The FCC listing doesn’t reveal any specs about the upcoming phone, and if this is indeed the Xperia XA 2 or XA (2017), then the phone could be announced during MWC 2017.

The Xperia XA 2 is said to come with MediaTek Helio P20 SoC and 4GB of RAM. It might have a 23MP camera on the back with f/2.0 aperture and a 16MP camera in the front with f/2.2 aperture. In addition, it might have USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It could run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and have a retail price of $320 (€300).

Sony could announce up to five Xperia smartphones during MWC

Judging by the rumored specs, the upcoming Sony Xperia XA 2 will focus on offering powerful camera capabilities and satisfactory processing power with its 4GB of RAM. A smartphone with similar specs recently showed up in benchmarks.

The device was codenamed “Pikachu” and had a 5-inch display with 720p resolution, but a lower RAM capacity of 3GB. It ran a MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 SoC with octa-core 2.3GHz processor and Mali-T880 MP2 graphics processing unit.

The smartphone appeared to have 32GB of internal memory, a 21MP rear camera, and an 8MP front shooter. These are just two of the five rumored smartphones that might be unveiled during MWC 2017.

Aside from premium Xperia models, Sony is also expected to announce low and mid-range phones, with lower specs and more affordable prices. Sony will be holding a press conference on February 27, and hopefully the smartphones will be announced then.
