14 DAY TRIAL // The new iPhone will see daylight tomorrow, and previous leaks showed that the model would bring few visual changes, but plenty of internal upgrades, and now, according to a new leak, Apple is also changing the box of the device to reflect the tweaks it gives to the new generation.
While it’s not yet clear if these photos are real or not, some of the changes that Apple is planning for the box do make sense, but it’s just safer to still be skeptic about it until the company unveils the new model on Wednesday.
Specifically, the box you see here shows the back of the iPhone, and not the front side, as was the case with the previous models. Steve Hemmerstoffer of NWE, who has a good track record of iPhone leaks, says this could be a sign of another fake, but he also admits that this kind of change could make sense, considering the upgrades that Apple is giving to the iPhone 7.

By showing the back of the phone and not its front on the box, Apple might want to bring in the spotlight the improved rear design, as the antenna lines are now placed at the top and the bottom edges of the phone, and the cameras have been moved closer to the top left corner. Furthermore, the Plus comes with a dual-camera system, so it’ll be easier to distinguish the new model from its predecessor.
The box shown in this picture allegedly comes from a 4.7-inch model and also features a weird bold iPhone text on the side, which once again could be sign of a fake. Apple has usually used a clear type font that it has been refining with every new generation, and this could be the first time it’s switching to bold for the box of the iPhone.
Without a doubt, a certain amount of skepticism is needed when seeing these photos, but given that we’re only a few hours away from the moment when Apple will finally take the wraps off the new model, it shouldn’t take too long before we learn everything about the iPhone 7.
