The Fatdog team announced a new stable release of their Puppy Linux derivative Fatdog64, version 720, which carries the latest Linux 4.14 LTS kernel series and numerous improvements.

Prominent new features of the Fatdog64 720 release include a UEFI Installer that lets users install the GNU/Linux distribution on modern UEFI machines using USB flash drives, the implementation of LICK Installer 1.2 by default in the ISO image, and libinput support for X.Org Server by default, replacing Synaptics and evdev.

Fatdog64 720 also ships with a home-made touchpad configuration client designed as a drop-in replacement for flSynclient, a new keyboard layout that supports multiple layouts, support for dual-nano initrd in the ISO image, as well as new and updated parameters including waitdev and mergeinitrd{n}.

"Fatdog64 720 Final is the next iteration of Fatdog64. It is still built on the same base as Fatdog64 710 so it has a high-degree of compatibility with 710 packages; however it has been expanded, improved, and modified to meet today's challenge. Much of the improvements in this release are from SFR and step," reads the release notes.

Much-improved SFS Manager, complimentary Wi-Fi monitor

Other noteworthy features implemented in the final Fatdog64 720 release include a much-improved SFS Manager, pkg2sfs for converting TXZ package to SFS directly, Fatdog Wireless Antenna 1.0.2 in-house built Wi-Fi monitor utility, MochiMoppel's excellent file viewer mm_view 2017.11, and support for wired Ethernet and static IP configurations in WpaGui.

Fatdog64 720 also ships with Adobe Flash Player 11.x because it's the last series to support DRM, as well as updated and expanded Help and FAQ documentation. You can view the full list of installed packages below, and download the live ISO image right now through our website. Please note that it is not possible to update an existing Fatdog64 installation.
