Sony officially confirms that it's implemented a price cut for its popular PlayStation 4 console, but only in the United States of America and Canada. The new recommended price for a standard PS4 is $349.99 USD / $429.99 CAD (around €309). The reduction also has an impact on the different bundles announced for this holiday season.

The PS4 started its global launch back in November of 2013, and thanks to its initial $400/€400 price tag, it trumped the main competitor, Microsoft's Xbox One, while drawing in more and more new gamers with its attractive titles.

Since then, while in some months the Xbox One managed to overtake the PS4, Sony's home console has remained in the lead in most territories of the world.

The PS4 now costs $349.99 USD / $429.99 CAD in North America

Microsoft has made subsequent price cuts for its Xbox One, taking it as low as $350/€350, and now Sony is finally lowering the price of its PS4 too, albeit only for the North American markets.

"Since the launch of PS4, we have been thrilled with the amount of gamers jumping into the world of PlayStation for the first time. If you haven’t made the jump yet, and you’re starting early on your holiday wish list, I have good news - we’re dropping the price of the PlayStation 4 system in the U.S. and Canada," Sony's John Koller confirms on the PS blog.

The announcement also mentions that the reduction goes into effect starting tomorrow, October 9, and it also affects the six different bundles that are set to appear in the next couple of months. These packs include the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 with a 1TB PS4, the Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars, Star Wars Battlefront, or NHL 16.

You can check out the full list of updated prices below. As of yet, Sony hasn't mentioned anything about an official price cut for the PS4 in Europe or other parts of the world.
