Naughty Dog, the developer behind upcoming PS4 exclusive action-adventure title Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, confirms that, thanks to the power of the Sony home console, it can deliver bigger set pieces in more open environments, instead of restricting players in terms of choices or paths.

Uncharted 4 is shaping up to be the most impressive entry in the action-adventure franchise made by Naughty Dog, which gained a huge cult following thanks to its PS3 releases.

The new game, which is set to arrive only on the PS4, has already received different gameplay demonstrations, not to mention details about its mechanics or story.

At E3 2015 last month, Naughty Dog showcased a very impressive car chase, in which protagonist Nathan Drake and his different allies get pursued by an armored truck through a quaint little town.

Uncharted 4's set pieces are much bigger thanks to PS4 power

According to Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann, who talks with GamesRadar, these set pieces are much bigger and much more open than the ones seen in the past Uncharted titles. The developer emphasizes that, thanks to the increased power of the PS4 and its expanded memory, the team can give players more freedom and program bigger environments for these intense moments.

"Because of the PS4, we do not have the constraints with memory that we had in the past," Druckmann says. "So in the set piece, normally, we’d be going down one road [now] you can see the road branches and splits up. There’s a ton exploration in this game. Right now it feels like the biggest Uncharted we’ve ever made."

As such, you can bet that Uncharted 4 will get some even more impressive demonstrations as we get closer to its launch in early 2016. Until then, Sony and Naughty Dog might once again showcase the game at Gamescom 2015 next month.
