They'll launch after next week's hardware event though

Everyone hoped to get new Windows 10 builds sometime this week, but unfortunately, Microsoft needs more time for internal testing before actually releasing them to users, so Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has recently revealed that they are very likely to ship after the company's event on October 6.

If you've been living under a rock for the past two weeks or so, Microsoft's holding a press event on October 6 that will be used to introduce the company's latest devices, including the Surface Pro 4, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, and the second-generation Band.

So the new builds will arrive after this event comes to an end, with the mobile version expected to see daylight first. Usually, Microsoft leaves a few days or one week between releases, pretty much because it wants to collect feedback on each, so it'll be interesting to see if the company goes for a different approach this time and rolls out both the PC and mobile version together.

Windows 10 Mobile RTM in November

Development of Windows 10 Mobile seems to go slower than initially expected, and it's no secret that there are plenty of insiders out there who are very disappointed with Microsoft's delays when it comes to new releases.

The company has never provided release dates for new builds, pretty much because squashing bugs could take longer than expected, but after the launch of Windows 10 for PCs, only 2 mobile releases have shipped. Obviously, everyone's now wondering whether the company can get the OS ready in time for the November release, when part of the devices running Windows Phone should receive the official update.

There's still some time left for Microsoft to fix bugs and address performance issues, but the company should clearly speed up releases and provide insiders with many more builds to make sure that everything’s working smoothly before the big launch.
