Twitter is the only app he gets on his iPhone

As compared to his predecessor Barack Obama, US President Donald Trump is actually allowed to use an iPhone, though with a lot of restrictions.

And according to a new report, Trump has just a single app visible on his iPhone, and that’s Twitter, because lately this seems to have become his favorite service for going online with his rants or opinions on a wide variety of topics.

Apple allows iPhone users to hide stock apps with a configuration profile, but most likely President Trump has received a device that also went through a series of other security tweaks to block any potential threat that could expose him or his data.

iPhones can indeed be tweaked in this regard with MDM tools that block the installation of other apps, but given that President Trump’s phone needs to be completely locked down, there’s a chance that US security agencies went for more security methods in his case.

Donald Trump versus Apple

Twitter has become Donald Trump’s preferred platform for banging out messages on pretty much anything he wants, and he announced shortly after being elected the next president of the United States that he wasn’t willing to give up on it.

On the other hand, Trump also called for a boycott of Apple products after getting involved in a dispute with the Cupertino-based company. Trump called for Apple to break into the San Bernardino iPhone that was used in the December 2015 shooting, and late last year requested the company to move production to the United States and reduce imports from China.

Despite all of these, however, Donald Trump was spotted using an iPhone several times, and some of his tweets were actually posted from an Apple smartphone. He also used a Samsung smartphone which is believed he has already given up on due to security concerns.

For what it’s worth, Barack Obama wasn’t allowed to have an iPhone, despite that he wanted one, but instead the NSA allowed him to use an iPad, most likely with a series of security tweaks implemented.
