Gun wielding drones aren't a completely new thing in the US, since a video that turned viral a month ago, showing a drone shooting a gun in Connecticut, made people realize the possibility of a new sort of gun sport, or better said, gun platform, in the shape of gun-carrying drones. Welcome, the flying guns.
Yes, this means that next time you see a drone in your backyard, it will probably carry a gun as well. And there are more issues related to this. One of them is the fact that drones usually fly quite high for the human eye to discern its cargo, and people won't be able to tell if a drone is carrying a gun or not until it’s close enough to enter its shooting range.
America's new drone rage: the flying guns
However, this didn't seem to bother some people and the guys at Snake River already developed drone ammunition that basically consists of a 12 gauge shotgun ammo for the trigger-happy fellow in you who thought putting a shotgun on a drone was a fun idea.
Right now, there are no FAA rules banning flying guns, since they are no different from fictional flying people carrying guns. As long as drones remain under 1,000 feet, they don't need any FAA approval or any Air Traffic Control surveillance.
But when people start playing ground attack roles and rain death from the skies, maybe some sensitive regulation about guns on drones will be enforced and will stop this nonsense. However, considering that countless of deaths are already being recorded in America every year and nothing is changing, some might wonder why some drone inflicted deaths would enable some sort of new gun regulation? At least there’s a bit of diversity, right?
