Additional devices might be added to the list

Although it doesn't have that much success with its smartphones lately, HTC is one of the few companies that offer major OS software updates pretty quickly.

The Taiwanese smartphone maker usually promises to deliver new OS upgrades to its high-end lineup of devices in about 3 months after Google releases another version of Android.

This year is no exception to the rule and HTC will offer Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its One family of smartphones by early 2016, since the new version of the OS will be officially introduced on September 29.

However, we don't have a list of devices that should receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow by early 2016 because HTC hasn't announced anything yet on that matter.

While we expect HTC, along with other handset makers, to make important announcements related to Android 6.0 Marshmallow as early as next week, it looks like the first information on the matter has just emerged via famous HTC leaker LlabTooFeR.

Both Desire and One lineups will receive updates

According to LlabTooFer, HTC has already put together a preliminary list of smartphones that should receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates along with Sense 7.0 UI.

If the information is accurate, then the list is quite impressive and includes the following devices: HTC Desire EYE, Desire 816, Desire 820, Desire 826, HTC One M8, One M8s, One M8 EYE, One E8, One M9, One M9+/ME, One E9, One E9+, Butterfly 2, and Butterfly 3.

It looks like the smartphones in the One family won't be the only ones to receive the new version of Android, which is very important since the bulk of devices sold by HTC is made of Desire-branded smartphones.

Keep in mind, though, that since this is a preliminary list, more devices might be added, so don't despair yet if your smartphone has been skipped for the moment.
