AirDroid, the powerful file transfer app that allowed Android users to fully access their devices from either a PC or Mac, now finally has a port for Apple's iOS mobile operating system for iPhone and iPad devices.

AirDroid is a very popular app, it's one of the best file transfer apps for Android devices, designed to allow users to access their phones or tablets from a computer using an easy-to-use, secure connection. With AirDroid you can manage all of your files, photos, and videos, but also SMS, WhatsApp, Line, and WeChat messages.

While iPhone and iPad users rely on Apple's well-built iCloud file, photo and music syncing service, which is available for free, they can now also use a third-party app like AirDroid to transfer virtually any file format between iOS, Android, Mac, GNU/Linux or Windows operating systems.

AirDroid needs only a Wi-Fi or cellular connection

AirDroid works mostly based on wireless connections, allowing users to transfer files with up to 20 MB/s on Wi-Fi networks, but it also supports file transfers through cellular and Bluetooth connections if no Wi-Fi is present, yet the speed won't be as fast. Best of all, you can use AirDroid via a web browser.

That's right, even if AirDroid comes with desktop clients for Macs and Windows PCs, you don't have to install them to transfer files from your iOS or Android device, just fire up your favorite browser, go to AirDroid's website and create a free account. The app is free on all platforms, but it has some limitations.

"AirDroid helps to transfer files across platforms without USB cable and mobile data cost. Millions of photos and files are shared by AirDroid users in over 150 countries everyday. AirDroid is the best productivity app for you to share photos, videos, audios or any files with your friends and across screens," reads the app's description.

The first release of AirDroid for iOS has been designed to be compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running iOS 9.0 or later. You can download it right now from the App Store or via iTunes if you're on a Mac or Windows, and finally put away that USB cable if you want to transfer files from your mobile device to a PC.
