The officers counted about 150 marijuana plants

A sizeable plantation that would've probably made Scarlett O'Hara turn green with envy was discovered earlier this week by law enforcement officers in Kingston upon Thames, south-west London. The one crop grown on this plantation: cannabis.

Quite surprised and amused, police officers in Kingston upon Thames posed for pictured with the oversized weeds and then posted the images on social media. Scroll down to have a look at them yourselves.

The plantation was more like a forest

The law enforcement officers who found the hidden cannabis farm say the marijuana plants were surrounded by native greenery. The place was very well isolated, which explains why it took so long for the plantation to be discovered.

“Whoever set this up used a really remote spot. The only way to get there was a 20-minute walk through wasteland,” said Kingston upon Thames police constable Sarah Henderson in an interview, as cited by The Guardian.

“But all their time, trouble and gardening skills will go unrewarded, as the whole lot will now be destroyed by police,” she added.

All in all, officers counted some 150 marijuana plants covering an area about the size of a football pitch. Some of them stood about 1.5 meters (5 feet) tall, which is why some say the cannabis farm looked more like a proper forest.

Apparently, it was a member of the public who first discovered the plantation quite by chance and who contacted authorities to let them know that they might want to search the area.

Unfortunately, there is no sign of the gardener

For the time being, police officers haven't figured out who it was that set up this cannabis plantation and took such good care of it, and so no arrests have been made.

An investigation is ongoing and authorities promise it will not be long until they find the person responsible for this illegal gardening project. When they do, they will surely put them behind bars.
